When Noise Isn't an Option: Lisbon Office Tower's Nighttime Lift Success
A premium office tower in the heart of Lisbon faced a persistent challenge: nighttime lighting maintenance. During the day, the building is bustling with office workers, visitors, and commercial activities, making high-level maintenance work nearly impossible. As a result, all inspections and repairs had to be carried out at night.
However, traditional lifting equipment created a new problem. Their large size and high operating noise frequently disturbed tenants and nearby occupants, leading to repeated complaints. The property management team needed a solution that could meet three critical requirements: low noise, zero emissions, and compact maneuverability.
After discovering us through a cross-border e-commerce platform, the customer contacted CATHAYLIFT with their specific needs. Following a detailed assessment of the working environment, we recommended our low-mast aerial work platform.
Equipped with a fully hydraulic silent-drive system, the platform operates at less than 60 decibels-roughly equivalent to the volume of a normal conversation. This allows maintenance crews to work throughout the night without causing disruption to building occupants. In addition, the machine's compact design, with a width of less than one meter, enables it to fit easily into standard passenger elevators, providing convenient access to different floors without complicated transportation procedures.
To ensure full compliance with European Union regulations and safety standards, we upgraded the platform's electrical system and safety warning devices before delivery. We also prepared Portuguese-language operating manuals and video tutorials, enabling local operators to quickly become familiar with the equipment and use it safely and efficiently.
Once the platform arrived on site, the property management team organized a nighttime trial operation. The results exceeded expectations. Throughout the test, the equipment operated so quietly that its movement was barely noticeable. Maintenance tasks were completed smoothly, while tenants remained completely undisturbed. For the first time, the building management team was able to conduct nighttime inspections without worrying about noise-related complaints.
The success of the trial quickly led to further cooperation. Today, the office tower has purchased three CATHAYLIFT platforms, which are now used not only for nighttime lighting maintenance but also for a variety of daily facility management tasks, including lobby plant trimming, interior decoration work, and glass cleaning.
Reflecting on their experience, the property management team commented:
"Your equipment feels as if it was designed specifically for our building. It is quiet, practical, and incredibly easy to use. It has completely solved our nighttime maintenance challenges."
This project demonstrates how CATHAYLIFT delivers customized solutions for demanding working environments. By combining low-noise operation, environmentally friendly performance, and compact design, we help customers improve maintenance efficiency while ensuring a comfortable experience for building occupants.
