Safe, Efficient, Eco‑Friendly: CATHAYLIFT Makes High‑Altitude Restoration Work Effortless

In Stockholm, Sweden, there is a Baroque-style royal library originally built in the 17th century. Today, it is open to the public and plays a key role in the restoration of valuable ancient books. Recently, the library management needed to carry out urgent restoration work on high-level murals and plaster decorations. However, the protected building has narrow, steep spiral staircases and aged wooden floors with very limited load-bearing capacity. Any equipment with oil stains or excessive weight is strictly prohibited. Traditional scaffolding is not only time-consuming to install but also risks scraping the precious historic walls. This left the maintenance team in a difficult position.

Recommended by a local equipment rental company, they introduced a CATHAYLIFT Single Mast Aluminum Lift. As the machine passed through an antique doorway just 80 centimeters wide and moved slowly along the ancient stone steps into the work area, everyone breathed a sigh of relief-its compact single-mast design allowed smooth passage without even needing to remove the door frame. What surprised the maintenance crew even more was that the high-strength aluminum alloy body, combined with outriggers equipped with black rubber pads, left not a single scratch on the handcrafted wooden floors that have endured for centuries.

During the operation, the lift demonstrated outstanding stability. When the operator reached the mural restoration area at a height of 8 meters, the platform remained remarkably steady, thanks to its widened 200mm high-strength support mast and low-center-of-gravity design. Not only did it protect this fragile piece of Swedish cultural heritage, but its zero-emission, noise-free electric hydraulic system also left the tranquil library environment undisturbed. In the end, the restoration work was completed two days ahead of schedule. The head of the library remarked: "It is like a guardian tailor-made for this Nordic historic building, accomplishing a challenging aerial task without disturbing a single brick or tile of history."
