Lifting Revolution Deep in The Forest

Jul 24, 2025

When Ole first drove this crawler-type "iron spider" into the Nordic cedar forest, his team was full of doubts - traditional scissor lifts have been stuck in the mud many times on the steep snowmelt slope. But at this moment, this folding arm lift is parked steadily on a 35° slope, extending its arm to replace sensors for wind turbines.

"It is as flexible as a bobcat," the forestry engineering supervisor wrote in his operation notes, "there is almost no bump when the crawler rolls over fallen trees and ice cracks. The most amazing thing is the self-balancing legs - when I release the joystick to drink coffee, the platform is still as stable as a desktop."

Ole specifically mentioned last week's emergency mission: Blizzards crushed the substation deep in the forest, and the repair channel was blocked by fallen spruce. "We controlled the folding arm to 'fold' through the tree gap and completed the wire repair 20 meters above the ground. If we waited for the clearance team, we would have to be out of power for at least three days."

What surprised him even more was the "invisible value" of the equipment. Since there is no need to build temporary roads, the project has minimized interference with the original ecology. "The National Park Service even invited us to participate in cliff bird observation, which is a trust that wheeled equipment can never get."

The equipment manufacturer revealed that 47 Nordic companies have purchased this model for polar projects. Ole left his contact information at the end of the article: "If you are tired of terrain restrictions, come to me for a recommended model - it doubled our bidding success rate."
