Understanding The Electrical Components Of Hydraulic Scissor Aerial Work Platforms
Hydraulic scissor aerial work platforms are essential equipment in various industries, and their efficient operation depends on their electrical components. These components include the electrical control unit (ECU), motor driver and motor, battery, and wiring harness. In this article, we will explore each of these components in detail.
The Electrical Control Unit (ECU)
The ECU is the brain of the hydraulic scissor aerial work platform, responsible for collecting signals from peripheral devices and issuing action commands. It controls the forward, backward, lifting, lowering, steering, and other actions of the vehicle, as well as monitors safety functions. The ECU is typically installed on one side of the car body and has abundant interfaces that can collect digital signal (DI), analog signal (AI), output PWM, output digital signal (DO), communication interface CAN or serial port. The ECU has a high-level effect in appearance and function, and OEMs or controller manufacturers are paying more attention to human-computer interaction interfaces.
Motor Driver and Motor
The motor driver is the second-level commander of the lift electrical system, receiving the control signal from the ECU and outputting energy to the front-line motor. The motor drives the hydraulic oil pump to deliver energy to each oil circuit. Motor controllers come in single output and multi-output configurations, and there are different forms of motors, including AC, DC, series excitation, and separate excitation.
Battery
The battery power of the aerial work platform determines its working capacity. The electrical system of the whole vehicle is generally a 24V system, and consists of multiple batteries connected in series or parallel. The ECU generally has power monitoring, and when the voltage is too low, there will be low power alarms and action limits. Lead-acid batteries are the most commonly used batteries, but lithium batteries and pure lead batteries are becoming increasingly popular due to their better charging and discharging performance and battery life.
Wiring Harness
The wiring harness is the nerve of the aerial work platform, connecting the various electrical components. There are many wiring harnesses on the vehicle, including main wiring harnesses, battery cables, PCU wiring harnesses, and fork bracket wiring harnesses. The main wiring harness is mainly connected to each valve block and sensor on the ECU car, while the battery cable is a relatively thick copper wire connected to the battery, motor, and motor driver. The PCU wiring harness extends from the chassis to the platform and mainly communicates with the PCU, while the fork bracket wiring harness is connected to the sensor on the oil cylinder.
Conclusion
Hydraulic scissor aerial work platforms are composed of three parts: hydraulic pressure, structure, and electricity. The electrical components of the vehicle, including the ECU, motor driver and motor, battery, and wiring harness, play critical roles in the efficient operation of the vehicle. By understanding these components, operators and maintenance personnel can ensure that the vehicle performs optimally and safely.
